"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

SUVs generally aren't considered pretty cars, but there are some around. Which one do you consider the most attractive?
I think the new GMC Yukon XL Denali to be pretty attractive.
There's something about a hilariously huge truck that attracts me to it, and the GMC has the covered for sure.
Plus it's a lot better looking than its predecessor. It almost has a Cadillac-esque look to it (I wonder why?)
And the interior is top-notch. Soft touch materials, nice leather seats, and plenty of features that used to be Cadillac exclusive.
So what SUV do you find most attractive?

These have to be the most simple SUVs being sold right now. The design hasn't changed since forever. Do they even offer navigation or anything on these?

The boxier the better, so my answer would be the G-Wagon:

That's simply not true- http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/why-the-h2-sho…
The H3 was equally as capable and came with both a v8 and a manual trans as options.
They are however nowhere near as good looking.

So far as I can tell, they offer virtually no luxury features at all. They're uncomfortable, utterly shite to drive on the road, and - particularly in 90 form - about as intimidating as a lettuce. I see them a lot where I live, and they're pretty much always dirty, dented and being driven by farmers or zookeepers. They're more of a tool than a car.
Which is why I, someone who - and I mean no disrespect by this - generally reserves a certain special kind of hatred for big SUVs, actually like them. They're more than just extra large cars that take up too much space on our tiny roads.

Okay, let me rephrase that, the only Hummer that saw true off roading.
Most H2s and H3s were bought by douchebros or high income soccer moms. I'm sure some saw the moab trail, but most probably didn't.

Almost all true 4x4 SUV's are bought by people who don't even know what Moab IS, and I'm not sure you can even exclude privately bought H1's. Hell, when I owned a Wrangler in high school, classmates made fun of it as a girl's car. Getting picky with the H2/3 seems unnecessary. Though I did have friends who used to off road an H2 and the early air suspension blew out, which was amusing.

Get low trim Wranglers and Xterra's. The 4Runner also counts, though, they are still a bit expensive. Also, even when they were sold in the US, I believe they sold at a premium that would make the 4Runner blush.

I find the distinction 99% marketing. Technically, yes there is a difference, but some of the CUVs are just as good or better at offroad stuff than the worst SUVs. And 99.8% of all SUV and CUV drivers will never actually offroad. For these reasons, I generally disregard the technical distinction and prefer to go off their actual prime buyers. So, if we are going to let the small bus, AKA the suburban get a pass, I will let the ZDX get the same pass.
I am not sure at all that paragraph is coherent.

I expect more resistance to abuse and greater off-road capability out of an SUV and better road manners and all around drivability from a CUV, but yes, I agree; Often the distinction is thin and only defined by marketing. Regardless, I say the more diversity in choice the better, even if I am, disgusted by behemoths like the Escalade / Suburban that very few people can justify a need for

1997 Alfa Romeo Sportut Concept by Bertone; the Alfa Romeo SUV that never was. It was a production Alfa Romeo 145-based experimental concept car to experiment with the styling of a SUV. Due to the wrong drivetrain, it was a semi-rolling sculpture. Despite having good specifications for a small SUV, Alfa Romeo realised that they weren't ready for a SUV and scrapped the project at the concept stage.
